About Us
History
Every day we got at least one email, or bumped into someone with a question. Every week we saw a talk with something missing. Every month we attended a conference where we were confronted with challenges. And of all them had one unifying theme. People need help with Imaging.
We could help.
We realized that there are more people acquiring data than can analyze it. We realized that the people who want to use advanced imaging techniques, don’t have the resources, and we realized there are a lot of people outside the field of medical imaging and radiology who don’t know that there are techniques that can help them improve the way they work.
We realized we could help more.
We at the time were individuals based in the Imaging Group and the Department of Radiology in the Medical Imaging Research Center at the Leuven University Hospitals and Antwerp University Hospital, Professors, Radiologists, Biomedical Engineers with a raft full of expertise and experience in all things Imaging.
Today we are icoMetrix.
We can help you!
Mission
icoMetrix provides solutions for the advanced analysis and accurate quantification of biomedical images, for medical, clinical trial or biomedical imaging. These solutions are delivered as a service. In this way, icoMetrix contributes to better, cheaper and more accessible health care for all.
icoMetrix was set up with the specific needs of our customers in mind. We understand how important it is for our partners to obtain accurate information from their imaging data sets. We can advance research goals by providing flexible solutions in answer to specific clinical and technical needs.
It is our aim to build strong partnerships and to offer our image analysis services as a complementary asset to our customers.
Management
Dirk Loeckx, founder, CEO
Dr Dirk Loeckx is a biomedical engineer, inventor, academic and business specialist. He completed his first degree in Physical Engineering (cum laude) at the University of Ghent in 2001, followed by postgraduate training in Biomedical and Physical Engineering and Medical Physics at the University of Leuven. He gained his PhD in 2006 for his research on Automated Nonrigid Intra-Patient Image Registration Using B-Splines with the Medical Image Computing group in Leuven where he continued to work on a variety of applications for nonrigid image registration and biomedical image processing. In 2009, he obtained an MBA degree at the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School. Dirk Loeckx is author or co-author of over 80 scientific publications, and inventor on several patents and patent applications.
Wim Van Hecke, founder, business development
Dr Wim Van Hecke is a biomedical engineer, academic and international expert on MRI analysis and advanced neuroimaging techniques and applications. He completed his first Masters degree in Physical Engineering (cum laude) at the University of Ghent in 2004, followed by a Masters degree in Biomedical imaging (specializing in neuroimaging) at the University of Antwerp. He gained his PhD in 2009 for his research on Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Image Processing for Improved Quantitative Group Studies at the Vision Lab in Antwerp. He has since held a joint position as a Postdoctoral research fellow at both the Universities of Leuven and Antwerp, continuing to work on advanced neuroimaging analysis. Wim Van Hecke is author or co-author of over 50 scientific publications, has won numerous scientific awards and is frequently invited to present his work at courses, conferences and radiology institutions around the world.
